YAHOO AVIATE
It has been a few weeks since Yahoo released Aviate for Android and I'm sure many of you have tried it already. I simply fell in love with it the moment I installed it. So much so that I installed it even on my friend's tab without asking her and now she loves it too. My review comes from a very lay man's experience point of view so don't be disappointed if I don't fulfill pro geek requirements.
Okay, getting to the app now. It is sleek, it is simple and it organizes the hell out of your phone or your tablet. The Yahoo Aviate works perfectly well on my LG Android 4.2.2 phone and my friend's Samsung Tab 3 8' running Android 4.2.2 as well. However, my Galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition running KitKat 4.4.2 would not even show the app in the app store. Maybe, the Aviate Homescreen is not KItKat ready and that is kind of disappointing.
2. The second homescreen keeps you updated on the weather, the news and you can also add your own apps. For example, I addedFlipboard on this screen so it flashes the latest news update whenever I am on this screen. Yahoo also has their own dedicated news app but you have to download the app from the play store. I am happy with my Flipboard so I did not install The Yahoo News App.
3. The third home screen is your primary homescreen where you can add the apps you use the most. You can add your own wallpaper or use the image that Yahoo Aviate provides on the 2nd Homescreen. A different image is provided everyday through flickr and you can simply click on the image and choose to use it as your wallpaper.
4. Next is the amazingly organised app drawers that you can personally add or delete. I have sectioned my apps into News, Productivity, Social, Studying, Entertainment, etc,.
5. Finally, the fifth homescreen that the Yahoo Aviate provides is the list of all your apps alphabetically arranged. It is not my favourite but it does make it easy to find apps by their initials.
It is a very simple app that will enhance your android experience without alienating you from your phone. Everyone should give it a try, in my opinion.
